Saif Ali Khan is one of the most versatile actors that we have in the industry today. Even in his 50’s the Omkara star continues to win hearts with his acting prowess. In his almost three-decade-long career, Saif has explored different genres and has experimented with his characters. Be it playing a chocolate boy lover, grimy villain, or a gangster, the Kal Ho Naa Ho star has nailed every role effortlessly. However, for a large part of his career, Saif got stuck in the role of a commitment-phobic manchild that he played in movies like Kya Kehna, Hum Tum, Love Aaj Kal and Cocktail, among others.
Back in 2018, in an interview with Film Companion, Saif admitted that he tired of playing the commitment phobic manchild. He also confessed that he was bored of such roles.
“I think I had sensed that I need to do something new which is when I was trying to put Agent Vinod together, which didn't work out but it is a well produced film. If it had worked, it was a good attempt for a guy who does romantic comedies to do something a little more age-appropriate. In your early 40s, you can be a R&AW agent or whatever. I don't know how many times manipulating one's fate actually worked,” Saif was quoted as saying.
Adding to this, the actor also spoke about his movie Cocktail and said he thought it would be ‘pretty much the last time’ he'd be doing it.
“I felt like I was getting a little bored of that vibe. The soul of the romantic hero is a guy who is confused about his future and is commitment phobic. I think that's really irritating to the audience after a while. The guy's grown up,” Saif further said.
He later left everyone in splits after he quipped, “I've been married twice. Like you're still confused?.”
Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan, who turns 51 today, is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming horror-comedy Bhoot Police, which also stars Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Yami Gautam.
